Why The Rich Ignore The Poor
Related to country: Nigeria About this category: Human Rights & Equity
|
The rich (so called affluent and influential people) have in recent times have degenerated to the point where the see the poor as second class citizens and as nuisances rather than as fellow human beings like them.
While this is so, I will strongly agree that many of those that are poor, are in that condition because of their lackadaisical (lazy) and indifferent behaviors towards life and opportunities. Notwithstanding, there are lots of poor people out there who are ambitious, intelligent, hard-working and well-skilled, but all they need is the backing and support of one or two of these rich and influential people to either finance their idea or work a way for them to have a stepping ground, as we are in a world where the poor are not giving an opportunity to speak irrespective of whether they carry the golden ideas or not. We are in a society where to get a job you need to have a rich or influential person to back you up and in the case where the rich ignore the poor, it does not need to be overemphasized as it is obvious that only the rich get the good jobs, as the rich recommend the rich (those they feel are in their same class) ignoring the poor who most times are the brains of the society, thereby subjecting that poor but educated young man / woman to continuous hardship and suffering both for his or herself and their dependent family. Most of this poor homes cannot afford to send all their children to school, in most cases they tend to educate only one out of all their children due to financial restrictions, hoping that the educated one will become the light of the family after college, only for that only-trained son/daughter to be ignored by the labor market (job market) due to the fact that he / she is not from a wealthy home and therefore cannot get the recommendation of a rich and influential person for he/she to be even considered for employment or skilled opportunities. When a wealthy man/woman opens a company, he/she employs fellow kids of rich and influential citizens in the juicy positions then leave the derogatory and junior positions for the kids of the poor who in most cases have the same qualifications like the wealthy children who where given the juicy positions.
Secondly, the rich and influential people most times feign (pretend) giving the poor youths a hearing ear, only with the intention to listen to their viable ideas then run-off to implement them for their self-gratification because they have the financial-power to do so, thereby abandoning the poor youth to their fate with no credit to his/her name. The rich tend to see any poor person that comes towards them as a beggar, and thereby believe that the poor should not be given the opportunity to enjoy the good-things of life rather they should be used for derogatory and worthless jobs that eats them rather than build their skill and experience.
Suggestions / Opinions
- Why do the rich ignore the poor?
- Why do the rich believe that the poor should not have equal rights?
- Why do the rich believe that the poor should remain poor and the rich remain rich?
Please drop a comment /comments on your suggestions / opinions and why these should stop.

Whom I’d Love to Meet
Related to country: Nigeria About this category: Learning & Education

This is a passion I have been pondering about in my mind for months and weeks now. I have been actually thinking about my future outside the normal daily academic routine at the University. I have always known what I want to be in life, I have always known what I want to be in future, I have always known I could pattern my destiny the right way God wants me to through him, I have always believed in positive dreams and thinking, I have always shared the passion to be great and to be a blessing to others. And because no man is an island on his own, every successful man or woman today must have a story which never ends without acknowledging one or two people who helped them to be who they are today through God. And this is the reason I have decided to let the whole world know my ideal person I will love to meet, because my helper could come from any part of the world.
My ideal man / woman could be anybody irrespective of age, tribe, religion, race or location. However, he or she should have one thing, and that is “To share my passion to be GREAT”. He / she could be a great person already or someone with workable ideas that can achieve genuine greatness. I have this passion to be a versatile and great entrepreneur. I want to be a great stock/shares investor and earner in the nearest future. I want to be a great and world-renowned Information Technology expert, as computers and Information Technology have always been my first passion and where my heart is. I have this passion to meet great men and women. I know that to be great, one has to be mix with great men / women. One thing is for sure, THE ABILITY TO BE GREAT IS IN ME.
I am a 20 year old ambitious young man and a 3rd year Electrical / Electronics Engineering student at the Cross River State University of Technology.
I know that day is coming when I will meet with great men / women and I will come back to this blog to post my testimony and experiences for you all to see and be inspired. Stay Blessed. With Love.

Intercontinental Bank PLC

This post is in reward to my bank (Intercontinental Bank PLC) for being a worthy service to me and its other customers.
Intercontinental Bank PLC, Nigeria, has been and is an epitome of excellence. Right form the door, you are welcome like a king and while inside, you are treated with respect. They do not base their respect on the value of money in your account. Everyone is treated with love and equity.
I must also commend Intercontinental Bank Plc for their innovation drive and also, because they do not believe in being second best. They always aim for the best, and we as shareholders and customers of the bank are living testimonies to that. As a student, the launch of the new Intercontinental Bank Prepaid MasterCard has made me register my presence on the internet without stress. Now I can shop online genuinely, like my foreign counterparts who had this monopoly for a long time now. I now also check my account statements online and confirm payments without needing to go to the bank premises, thanks to Intercontinental Bank’s INTERNET BANKING SERVICE.
I must also commend the Customer Service of Intercontinental Bank PLC, you guys are the best, both in customer interaction, quick and efficient replying of emails, telephone assistance and all, you guys rock.
Intercontinental Bank PLC has this slogan “HAPPY CUSTOMER, HAPPY BANK”, and I strongly lay my stamp of approval on it, because IT IS TRUE.
I am an account holder of Intercontinental Bank Plc (Nigeria) and I always cherish the day I opened an account in the bank.
You guys are great!!!

I HAVE BEEN BLESSED
About this category: Peace, Conflict & Governance
|
I just know this one thing, that I am blessed beyond human comprehension by my God in heaven.
This blessings that follow me was once again, clearly and openly exhibited on the 5th July, 2007. I went out with my dad’s Mercedes Benz car to buy diesel for our generating plant. However, I did not live straight for the fuelling station; I went to check a friend first. Later in the day, on my way to the diesel station which was on the express-way, quite far away from town, I had a busted tyre. However, although I immediately started hearing some loud irritating sound, I did not know that it came from my wheels. I was still going with some reasonable speed on this busted tyre, which is very dangerous, however I was not aware that this danger was looming around me, as I did not suspect the loud screeching sound to be coming from my wheels.
It was until I got into the fuelling station and stopped, that was when it dawned on me that the sound was from my car, because the loud sound stopped immediately I stopped the car, and I saw smoke coming up from the front left wheel of the car. Only for me to come out and see that the tyre was battered, tattered and in shreds.
Now, that was where my trouble started. The spare tyre in my car booth had no air in it and needed to be pumped. And the fuelling station was quite far from town. I was confused, and could not find any vulcaniser around to pump the spare tyre. Luckily, I saw a young guy (a stranger) around, and I asked him where I could find someone to pump my flat spare tyre, he did not only direct me to the place, but he offered to come along with me. While we strolled over a stretch of over 5km to the nearest tyre workshop, he totally and single-handedly kept rolling the spare tyre, while I, the victim of this incident was just strolling effortlessly by his side. Remember, I did not pay him or ask him to assist me. All I asked him was where I could find the nearest tyre workshop to pump my flat spare tyre, so that I could replace the busted front wheel tyre. As we strolled down this long stretch, we finally came to the workshop where I got my tyre pumped and was charged extra, to fix some missing components, to enable the tyre to be pumped. When all was done, we started our journey back, another 5km to where the car was parked in the fuelling station.
He, again rolled the tyre on is own throughout our return journey of another 5km, and remember this was a stranger I had never met before, but he offered me such a priceless assistance when I was in a state of confusion. Finally, we got to our destination after meandering against moving traffic on the express-way. As we got back, he also came and removed the busted tyre, and replaced it with the spare tyre that we just pumped. This whole process left his hands and jeans trousers messed up, while I, the victim of this incident was clean and fresh.
What, shocked me the most and made me know that I am truly and richly blessed was when he kindly rejected some money I offered him as gratitude for giving me such whole-hearted assistance that I never requested for. I insisted on giving him something in return as I felt that just Thank You was not enough, but he kindly rejected and said that he just wanted to help and was not expecting anything in return.
It was then that I saw and knew and considered and understood together that the hand of the Lord had done this, that the Holy One of Israel had created it (Isaiah 41:20). I just knew he was a God-sent. I knew he was a human angel acting on God’s command to help me without measure and without expecting anything in return. I then again knew that God’s word in Hebrews 13:5 “… I will never live you nor forsake you” was working fully and has always been with me.
I went home happily with the diesel I bought. GLORY TO GOD!

My Passion
About this category: Technology & Innovation
|
This blog is about my person, Mr. Eta Eta Uso (Jnr) and the passion that drives me.
I have this passion, this drive, this love, the heart for Computer. I would rather spend my whole life doing a profession or perhaps having a career in Computer than any other juicy job out there. For this is where my heart is. I just know that I was created to function and be invaluable in the computer world. And this drive and passion has been in me since from birth. I have a serious role to play in the computer world and I believe that this is one of the reasons and purpose I have for man-kind for which I was created. When I was around 10 years old, my dad bought a desktop computer for the house. At that time, I was blank about computer operations, but my passion could not just let me sit-back. This situation was beyond the normal anxiety of young children who love playing with gadgets and electronics. Sooner than later, my senior sister who had earlier attended a computer school agreed to teach me computer. But barely days after she started, I virtually became the teacher. I was always two steps ahead of her, and I was always devising other means different from that of hers, in achieving the set targets for the day. This always got her asking and saying to me, “how did you do it”, “who showed you”, “how did you know”, “you are a small whiz-kid”, “I never knew that, am surprised you did”. It did not take long before I totally surpassed her and became the computer genius of the house, without ever seeing the four-walls of a computer school. However, I attended the best Nursery and Primary School in my city, although practical computer was never taught, and this was same in my secondary school. However, during these periods, even though I went through the best primary and secondary schools, I never had a chance to study computer practically. My computer knowledge was fully based on my home knowledge, of which I kept on teaching and educating myself, because my sister backed-out barely a week after she started teaching me, because I surpassed her knowledge of which she spent six months studying in computer school. However, she never stopped craving at the skills and speed in which I operated the computer. Soon, my dad, mum, my brother and my second sister gave me the name “Computer Whiz-Kid” and I was barely 11 years old at this stage and was the last child of the family, till date.
While, in secondary school, we never studied computer practically, but people, both staff and students termed me a “computer wizard” because the passion and depth in which I discussed and talked about the computer. It was not long after I left secondary school in 2004, at the age of 17, that my father bought me a brand new Dell Inspiron 1150 laptop, and then I broke lose. The passion and the inbuilt talent I had for computer immediately went beyond my home and school. My neighbors, my brother and sisters friends all knew me because of this matchless gift o mine. And lest I forget, I was the last-born of the family, in a family of four children and my mum and dad, and I was the only person with a brand new laptop in the whole house and the first ever to have a laptop in our nuclear family. My senior brother and sisters never complained about this, they all said and kept on saying that I deserved it, because for years back, they had seen that this is where I had my passion, and it was what made me happy and took much of my time without any feel of hunger when I was on it.
I was barely 18 years old when I solely designed and printed the Harvest Envelopes for our Church. December of that same year, I solely designed and printed the Invitation Letters for my parents 25th Marriage Anniversary. At only 18 years of age, my parent handed over such vital projects to me among others because of my aptness and professionalism in dispensing this works. Barely eight months after I got my laptop, had it developed a motherboard fault which happened to be a common problem with the model I had. When, my father heard this, he this time around, told me to search and personally recommend the laptop of my choice of which I felt was durable and less-problematic. I searched the net, read user reviews on different notebooks, and then I finally picked a brand new Toshiba M70 laptop, which was bought for me immediately, I was barely 19 years then. And at the time I got my second brand-new laptop, no other person in the house, not even my dad had one, not until recently. This goes to showed how far in which my parents saw my potentials at that age, and they where fully behind it, as well did my mum send me to study Oracle recently, of which I am currently Oracle 9i Sql Certified and furthering ahead. I will be 20 years of age on the 14th of October this year, 2007.
I am currently a 2nd year undergraduate of Electrical / Electronics Engineering at the Cross River State University. I am seeking for scholarship to complete my undergraduate course in a computer related study overseas, due to the high cost of tuition for foreigners. I am a Nigerian by birth. With what I have already, alongside studies abroad where I know I will get potent education and exposure, you will no doubt testify that the sky will be my stepping stone. This is my dream, and I know it will come true soonest. I am signified a genius in my locality and beyond. I barely stayed with my uncle in another state, not long before his nephew started calling me a genius just after meeting me for only a day. This passion and talent in me radiates, and speaks for me before my actions. I do not know how, but people always stop to single me out to assist in technical issues, even without knowing me before, and I always come out Victorious!. My dad currently made me the Manager of our Photo Studio above the others at home, because of my divine ability to handle computer and technical related issues that occur in the studio. This (Computer) is where my heart is.
I THANK GOD FOR ME, AND FOR A FAMILY THAT SUPPORTS MY PASSION.
GOD BLESS NIGERIA. GOD BLESS MY WELL-WISHERS AND MAY GOD BLESS YOU ALL.
JESUS IS LORD.
This blog was written from my heart and is fully about MY PASSION AND TALENT.
Yours Faithfully,
